| Australian Emission Requirements To comply with Australian emission laws the new engine must have been manufactured the same year or later than the vehicle. The engine must also have all of the emission components connected, including the catalytic converter. In this instance the engine must also be run on unleaded fuel or LPG. An older engine can be fitted providing it's run only on LPG fuel. In Australia an engineer's report is required after the conversion has been completed. Contact your local RTA office for a list of engineers. |
Ford V8 to the Landcruiser 5-Speed Manual |
| Ford V8 to FJ80 5-Speed Manual Kit part no. MFK555 utilises the Ford flywheel and 11" clutch along with the Toyota bellhousing and sandwich plate. Instead of a new bellhousing, a flywheel housing is supplied which measures 122 mm/4.8" long. This housing has the Ford bolt pattern on the front and the Toyota 3F, bolt pattern on the rear. The kit has been designed to allow for firewall clearance without shifting the transmission or altering the drive shaft lengths. The gear box input shaft is coupled to the clutch via an input extension shaft. The shaft has the Toyota internal spline and spigot diameter on the gearbox end with the Ford 1 1/16" 10T external spline and spigot diameter on the engine end. The front of the shaft is supported in the crankshaft by a sealed ball bearing. The clutch is operated through a thrust bearing extension sleeve, which is supported in a machined boss located in the centre of the housing. On the front of the sleeve is a bearing to suit the Ford clutch pressure plate. |
Engine Mounting At the present time no engine mounts are available for the 80 series Landcruiser. |
Engine sump The Bronco sump and pickup are recommended for the conversion although some modification may be required for vehicles that are used in extreme off road conditions. |
Clutch Marks 4WD Adaptors stock and recommend using an 11" Ford clutch with this conversion, the clutch pressure plate should be a low finger type. The clutch slave cylinder will need to be re-sleeved to 11/16" bore size. This modification will allow the clutch pedal to operate in its original position. The sleeve kit includes a new sleeve, piston, push rod and rubbers. |
| Tachometer Interface Marks 4WD Adaptors now manufacture a new interface designed to calibrate your existing Toyota 6-cylinder petrol tachometer so that it can be driven from your V8 engine. This eliminates the inconvenience of removing your tachometer from your dashboard to have it re-calibrated. The unit is easy to install and only requires a connection to the ignition coil, tachometer wire, earth B- and ignition B+. |

Ford V8 to the Landcruiser 4-speed Automatic |
| The FJ80 Automatic - Ford V8 Kit part no. MFK555A) utilises the Toyota bellhousing and sandwich plate. Instead of a replacement bellhousing, a flywheel housing is supplied which measures 122 mm/4.8" long. This housing has the Ford bolt pattern on the front and the Toyota F series, bolt pattern on the rear. The transmission torque converter is coupled to the flywheel via a crankshaft adaptor. The adaptor has the Toyota crankshaft bolt pattern and spigot diameter on the transmission end with the Ford crankshaft bolt pattern and spigot diameter on the engine end. This allows the Toyota flex plate and torque converter to be bolted to the rear as with the old F engine. On the rear of the engine a flywheel is used instead of a flex plate, as there is no provision to support a flex plate when the starter motor is engaged. |
