| Australian Emission Requirements To comply with Australian emission laws the new engine must have been manufactured the same year or later than the vehicle. The engine must also have all of the emission components connected, including the catalytic converter. In this instance the engine must also be run on unleaded fuel or LPG. An older engine can be fitted providing it's run only on LPG fuel. In Australia an engineer's report is required after the conversion has been completed. Contact your local RTA office for a list of engineers.

Chevy V8 to the Land Cruiser 5-Speed Manual |
| The FZJ80 Manual - GM V8 Kit part no. MFK1045##### utilises the Toyota bellhousing, instead of a replacement bellhousing, a flywheel housing is supplied which measures 61 mm/2.4" long. This housing has the GM bolt pattern on the front and the Toyota 1FZ, bolt pattern on the rear. The new flywheel supplied in the kit accepts the original Toyota 12" clutch. The flywheel is offset to the rear to place the clutch in its original position. The flywheel has no ring gear and must be used with the original GM flex plate and ring gear. Spacers and bolts are supplied to fix the flex plate to the back of the flywheel. When ordering a Chevy kit you must make sure that the GM starter motor you intend using is the correct type. Chevy V8 engines were released with two flywheel and flex plate sizes; they where fitted with a 153 tooth ring gear or 168 tooth ring gear, as a result two starter motor offsets are available. It will also be necessary to identify the year of the engine, after 1986 the engine crankshaft bolt pattern changed. The bolt pattern is smaller as is the spigot, which locates the flywheel on the crankshaft (52.4-mm). The post 1986 Chevy small block engines are also externally balanced. One way to identify a late model Chevy engine is by the one-piece external, rear main oil seal. |
Engine Mounting Two types of engine mounting bracket kits are available for the Chevy into the Land Cruiser. The MFK680### kit consists of replacement chassis brackets which need to be welded to the chassis in place of the original Toyota chassis brackets. New engine mounting rubbers, engine block brackets, bolts nuts and washers are also supplied with this kit. The MFK1062 engine mounting kit is designed specifically for the FZJ80 series Land Cruiser. It consists of new engine block brackets which bolt directly to the original Toyota engine mount rubbers. This kit is also supplied with bolts, and washers to attach the brackets to the engine. |
| Tachometer Interface Marks 4WD Adaptors now manufacture a new interface designed to calibrate your existing Toyota 6-cylinder petrol tachometer so that it can be driven from your V8 Chevy engine. This eliminates the inconvenience of removing your tachometer from your dashboard to have it re-calibrated. The unit is easy to install and only requires a connection to the ignition coil, tachometer wire, earth B- and ignition B+. Note, this unit will only suit a tachometer previously driven from a single ignition coil. |

Chevy V8 to the Land Cruiser 4-speed Automatic |
| The FZJ80 Manual - GM V8 Kit part no. MFK1045C###A utilises the Toyota bellhousing, instead of a replacement bellhousing, a flywheel housing is supplied which measures 61 mm/2.4" long. This housing has the GM bolt pattern on the front and the Toyota 1FZ, bolt pattern on the rear. The transmission torque converter is coupled to the flywheel via a crankshaft adaptor. The adaptor has the Toyota bolt pattern and spigot diameter on the transmission end with the GM crankshaft bolt pattern and spigot diameter on the engine end. This allows the Toyota flex plate and torque converter to be bolted to the rear as with the old 1FZ engine. On the rear of the engine the GM flywheel is used instead of a flex plate, as there is no provision to support a flex plate when the starter motor is engaged.
