80 Series Landcruiser Information: FZJ80 manufactured from August 1992 to 1998 powered by the 6-cylinder 4.5 ltr petrol engine. The transmission a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic, with a lockup torque converter. The transfer case type HF2A (full time FWD) or HF1A (part time 4WD). Marks 4WD Adaptors manufacture kits that allow the fitting of 304, 308 and 350 Cubic Inch Holden V8 engines. |
| Australian Emission Requirements To comply with Australian emission laws the new engine must have been manufactured the same year or later than the vehicle. The engine must also have all of the emission components connected, including the catalytic converter. In this instance the engine must also be run on unleaded fuel or LPG. An older engine can be fitted providing it's run only on LPG fuel. In Australia an engineer's report is required after the conversion has been completed. Contact your local RTA office for a list of engineers. |

| Bellhousing The FZJ80 Manual - GM V8 Kit part no. MFK1045HT utilises the Toyota bell housing, instead of a replacement bell housing, a flywheel housing is supplied which measures 61 mm/2.4" long. This housing has the GM bolt pattern on the front and the Toyota 1FZ, bolt pattern on the rear. |
| Flywheel and Clutch The new flywheel supplied in the kit accepts the original Toyota 12" clutch. The flywheel is offset to the rear to place the clutch in its original position. The flywheel has no ring gear and must be used with the original GM flex plate and ring gear. Spacers and bolts are supplied to fix the flex plate to the back of the flywheel. |
Engine Mounting The engine mounting kit to suit the FZJ80 series Land Cruiser consists of engine block brackets, engine-mounting rubbers, and bolts. The original Toyota chassis brackets are welded to the chassis and must be cut off with a grinder to make room for the new brackets. The new brackets must also be welded to the chassis, if you're not a good or qualified welder we suggest a contract welder do the job. |
A/C Compressor When fitting a Holden V8 the Holden A/C compressor will need to be relocated to clear the front diff. New brackets will need to be fabricated to relocate the Holden A/C compressor or alternately the Toyota A/C compressor. |
Interface Wiring and Speed Sensor Marks 4WD Adaptors manufacture an interface wiring loom for Holden EFI V8 engines to fit any model Land Cruiser, to compliment the loom we also manufacture a special speed sensor interface. |
| Tachometer Interface Marks 4WD Adaptors now manufacture a new interface designed to calibrate your existing Toyota 6-cylinder petrol tachometer so that it can be driven from your V8 Chevy or V8 Holden engine. This eliminates the inconvenience of removing your tachometer from your dashboard to have it re-calibrated. The unit is easy to install and only requires a connection to the ignition coil, tachometer wire, earth B- and ignition B+. NOTE: This interface will only suit Toyota single coil ignition systems. |

Commodore VR and VS engine computers (PCM's) require a security signal from the body control module before the engine can be started. The BCM simulator is programmed to supply the correct security signal allowing the engine to be started. The simulator is programmed to send both VR and VS security codes. The simulator is also equipped with an output to control a relay for the engine cooling fan. This option will only work with VS models. PCM Mem-CalsCommodore VT engine management computers require a stream of data to be sent to them from the body control module, prior to starting the engine. This is part of the vehicles anti theft system. The stream of data required by the PCM is special. Fortunately the input to the PCM can be switched off by changing the program information in the mem-cal. Marks 4WD Adaptors can supply mem-cals on an exchange or out right basis. |
| EFI High Pressure Fuel Pump The 4.5 ltr 1FZ-EFI engine will not require the high pressure, fuel pump kit as the existing Toyota high pressure, pump will do the job. |
| Holden 308 V8 Bolt Patterns No kit is available to fit the Holden Trimatic bolt pattern, this bolt pattern can not be machined into the adaptor. When ordering Holden 308 V8 kits, please make sure the bolt pattern at the rear of the engine is a Turbo (Chevy) pattern. The 1988 VN and later 304 C.I. and 350 C.I. engines have the Turbo bolt pattern. The bolt patterns are illustrated below. |

| The FZJ80 Manual - GM V8 Kit part no. MFK1045HTA utilises the Toyota bell housing, instead of a replacement bell housing, a flywheel housing is supplied which measures 61 mm/2.4" long. This housing has the GM bolt pattern on the front and the Toyota 1FZ, bolt pattern on the rear. The transmission torque converter is coupled to the flywheel via a crankshaft adaptor. The adaptor has a special bolt pattern and spigot diameter on the transmission end with the GM crankshaft bolt pattern and spigot diameter on the engine end. This allows the new flex plate (supplied in the kit) and the Toyota torque converter to be bolted to the rear of the crankshaft adaptor as with the old 1FZ engine. On the front of the crankshaft adaptor a flywheel is used instead of a flex plate, as there is no provision to support a flex plate when the starter motor is engaged. |
