Questions & Answers on the Gearmaster Low Range Gears for

Nissan Patrol GQ/GU Patrol

Last Updated:15/03/10

One of the most popular products that Mark has designed is the Gearmaster Gear Range.

These gears are exported all over the world & have proven an extremely popular addition to our product range.

The following questions are the most common received by our sales team.

Are these gears Australian Made?

Absolutely 100% as are all our products except for the selected range of adaptor kits we import from Advance Adapters USA for the US vehicles

What are the benefits of fitting the Gearmaster Gears?

There are a number of benefits. The most important is the safety aspect. The engine braking is dramatically increased. This is most important, especially for vehicles running automatics.

What ratio should I buy?

This depends on a number of factors. Auto or manual? 4WDriving terrain the vehicle is subjected to etc etc. This question is best answered by consulting with one of our sales team who will determine the best ratio suited to your needs.

Do the gears change the high range ratio & if not why?

No. This can't be achieved due to the fact that high range is direct drive straight through the transfer case

Can I fit these gears myself?

That depends on your mechanical capabilities. The gears are supplied with full step by step fitting instructions & no special tools are required. We suggest you read these before making the decision. The gears can be easily fitted by our workshop or your mechanic.

What modifications are required when fitting the gears?

There is some internal grinding on the transfer case.

What happens if I upgrade my GQ to the GU model, can I transfer the gears over?

Yes the gears will suit both the GQ & GU transfer cases.

What should I do with the standard gears?

We recommend you hang on to these in case you do upgrade to the GU model & want to transfer the Gearmaster Gears over.

Are these gears noisy compared to the original?

No these gears are as quiet as the original.

Are these gears weaker than the original Nissan Gears?

Definitely not.

Do these gears have a warranty?

Absolutely, 12 months from the date of purchase.

Are these units readily available?

Absolutely, the units are a stock item.
