Part Time 4WD Conversion Kit

Marks 4WD Adaptors manufacture a part time 4WD conversion for the 80 and 100 series HF2A full time 4WD transfer case as fitted to all RV, GXL, and Sahara Land Cruisers manufactured from 1990 on.

100 Series Axle Splines

The 100 series full time 4wd front axle splines are larger than the part time 4wd 100 series and the previous 80 series model Land Cruisers, for this reason we have remanufactured AVM free wheeling hubs to suit.

ABS Live Axle Models

If your vehicle is fitted with ABS brakes the kit can be fitted but the ABS malfunction light will appear and the brakes will revert back to STD (non-ABS). The reason this occurs is because the ABS speed sensors are reading directly off the CV joint, and the free wheel hubs will prevent them from turning. To prevent this the free wheel hubs can either, not be fitted or simply engaged when ABS is required.

ABS 100 Series IFS Models

If your vehicle has IFS (Independent Front Suspension) and is fitted with ABS brakes the kit can be fitted without effecting the ABS system. The reason for this is because the ABS speed sensor is reading off the wheel hub.

Viscous Centre Diffs

Vehicles fitted with viscous coupled centre diffs can be fitted with the part time kit. After replacing the viscous coupling with our new spool 2WD high and 4WD low are made operative. To make 4WD high operative the 4WD switch from a GXL model must be fitted. To fit the switch is easy as all the wiring and the necessary plug are all provided in the Toyota wiring loom.

The prototype conversion was first fitted to our 6.5 Chevy diesel 80 series in September 1999. The conversion gave the vehicle a new lease of life with improved handling, better acceleration, and lighter steering.

The steering no longer has a tendency to pull hard when powering out of a corner, this must add up to less wear and tear on the steering components such as the tie rod ends and steering box. The steering has also become more direct or positive.

The acceleration improved due to the reduction in losses associated with driving the front differential, drive shaft, and CV joints. With these components no longer being driven, a considerable increase in their service life can also be expected.

The fuel consumption also improved by at least 5% in my vehicle while other people have reported as much as 10%.
