Questions & answers on the Speedometer Correction Tyre Match Box

Last Updated:14/05/09

This unit is a popular addition to our product range.

The following questions are the most common received by our sales team.

How does it work?

The corrector is a dual ratio unit which can be multi programmed. Just program your everyday tyre size as the standard setting. If you change to a larger tyre size for off roading then set that size as the fun setting. When you change your standard tyres over to the larger tyres just flick the switch on the front of the unit. Your speedo is then automatically corrected.

What are the benefits?

The benefit is that you can change wheels & tyres to a larger size & your speedo is automatically re calibrated.

This saves in speeding fines.

Does the Speedo Matchbox suit my cable driven speedo?

No, the Speedo Matchbox suits electric speedo's only. But, if you have a cable driven speedo then use our mechanical speedo corrector which is set to a fixed ratio

Can I fit it myself?

If you have the plug & play unit (Land Cruiser 80 or Nissan Patrol GQ/GU) then the install is relatively easy. If you have the universal matchbox (Hilux/Land Cruiser 100 etc) then there is some hard wiring involved. If you have no or limited wiring knowledge we recommend to have the unit installed by your local mechanic or auto electrician.

What if I change my wheel & tyre size after the unit has already been programmed?

No problem simply re-program for the new tyre size. The unit can be programmed as many times as you want.
