What is a GVM Upgrade?
- GVM (Gross Vehicle Mass) is a rating set by the original manufacturer and refers to the legal maximum total weight of the vehicle. This includes the weight of the vehicle itself, the bull bar, fuel, water tank, cargo, etc and includes the driver and passengers. Think of it as the maximum load your vehicle can safely carry.
- The GVM also determines the imparted Tow Ball Mass when towing and Rated Axle Capacity, which limits how much weight should be distributed to each vehicle.
- A GVM Upgrade includes upgraded suspension components to legally increase a vehicle’s carrying capacity and ensure safety and performance when carrying heavier loads.
