What is Engine Dusting?
Engine dusting occurs when tiny dust particles bypass the air filter and enter the engine. The dust acts like sandpaper, grinding away at the engine’s internal components over time. This causes excessive wear and tear, leading to expensive repairs and even complete engine failure.
Engine dusting is a major issue in the mining industry and for 4WD vehicles used both on and offroad.
Benefits of the Terrain Tamer Air Filter
The sealing surface of the factory airbox can be too narrow to match and correctly seal the engine intake from dust ingress on some Toyota LandCruiser vehicles.
As a result, dust can bypass the filter element and enter the engine’s intake, causing excessive wear and possible damage.
Terrain Tamer has developed a stainless steel insert with a wider surface area to match the air filter. When used with the sealant provided in the kit, this insert improves the seal and reduces the possibility of dusting.
