Part Time 4WD Conversion Kit to suit Toyota LandCruiser 100, 105 Series
Marks 4WD manufactured heavy-duty part-time 4WD conversion kits fits all 100 & 105 series LandCruisers factory fitted with constant (full time) 4WD.
(All RV, GXL, and Sahara LandCruisers manufactured from 01/1998 are fitted with the full-time HF2A transfer case.)
Our kit suits both IFS (independent front suspension) and live axle models.
The Marks 4WD kit contains Heavy Duty-Free Wheel Hubs fitted with a heat-treated carbon steel drive ring engineered to strengthen the weak point on the factory hub.
Vehicles fitted with front diff locks and the standard AVM free wheeling hubs have been prone to breaking the factory hub, making our kit the ideal upgrade to your 4WD
100 Series Free Wheeling Hubs
The 100 series full-time 4WD front axle splines are larger than the part-time 4WD 100 series and previous 80 series model Land Cruisers.
Marks 4WD remanufacture the AVM free wheeling hubs to suit both full time and part-time models 100 series vehicles.
ABS Live Axle Models
When ABS-equipped live axle vehicles are fitted with a Part-Time 4WD kit, the ABS sensor reading from the CV joint becomes inoperable, resulting in the ABS warning light displayed on the dash.
Our ABS relocation kit moves the sensor from the CV joint to the wheel hub and operates as per factory specifications.
ABS 100 Series IFS Models
If your vehicle has IFS (Independent Front Suspension) and is fitted with ABS brakes, the Part-Time 4WD kit can be fitted without affecting the ABS system. The reason for this is because the ABS speed sensor is reading off the wheel hub.
Viscous Centre Diffs
Vehicles fitted with viscous coupled centre diffs can still use our Part-Time 4WD kit. To complete the installation, you will be required to purchase the ‘Centre Diff Lock’ button as used on the GXL models. The switch is an easy plug and plays with the necessary plug & wiring already provided in the Toyota wiring loom.
History
Marks 4WD prototype conversion was first fitted to our 6.5 Chevy diesel 80 series in September 1999.
The conversion gave the vehicle a new lease of life with improved handling, better acceleration, and lighter steering. The steering no longer has a tendency to pull hard when powering out of a corner; this must add up to less wear and tear on the steering components such as the tie rod ends and steering box. The steering has also become more direct or positive. The acceleration improved due to the reduction in losses associated with driving the front differential, driveshaft, and CV joints. With these components no longer being driven, a considerable increase in their service life can also be expected.
The fuel consumption also improved by at least 5% in my vehicle, while other people have reported as much as 10%.
