Transmission Handbrake – Toyota LandCruiser VDJ78 Troop Carrier & VDJ79 series (both with ABS)
Transmission Handbrake MFK20045 is manufactured with a 160mm drum to suit the VDJ78 Troop Carrier & VDJ79 series model Landcruiser, which has an extra tubed cross-member section on the chassis and prevents our MFK20080 Handbrake kit from fitting.
The factory LandCruiser 70 series drum in disc handbrake is well known for filling with debris, quickly getting out of adjustment and giving the operator no confidence in its effectiveness.
Our transmission handbrake is mounted on the transfer case output shaft keeping the brake up out of the road grime and debris, maximising service life, reducing service intervals and saving costly parts.
The advantage of a transmission brake is that it locks the entire drive train, including all four wheels, when the transfer case is locked in 4WD. As the handbrake is mounted before the differential, you also gain the 3.9:1 differential ratio advantage over braking at the wheels.
When installing the Marks4wd Handbrake upgrade to your vehicle, the original handbrake cable, shoes, clips, etc., can be removed.
The VDJ76 5-Door Wagon and VDJ79 Single and Dual Cab vehicles can also use our upgraded handbrake kit utilising a larger handbrake drum (160mm vs 240mm) catering for vehicles exceeding 4000kg. The larger handbrake kits come equipped with a bash plate for improved protection.

Notes
- Modification to rear driveshaft required (shorten up to 25mm) as the kit moves the driveshaft mounting face back 11mm.
